Important notice for students of the 2nd and 3rd year, bachelor’s level, and 1st and 2nd year, master’s level regarding the calendar for the preparation of the bachelor’s/master’s thesis

The platform for the management of bachelor’s and master’s theses will become beginning on November 1st, at 8:00 a.m. for the academic year 2023-2024. Starting from this time, papers can be assigned to second and third-year bachelor’s students and master’s students by the teaching staff. Bachelor’s degree candidates in their first year of study will not have the opportunity to select a coordinator until their second year of study.

Every faculty students is required to select a scientific coordinator in charge of the coordination of their bachelor’s or master’s thesis. The coordinator must hold a doctorate and be employed full-time. Assistants without a doctorate can coordinate bachelor’s theses supervised by another teaching staff member with a doctorate. Partner organizations or companies may also suggest topics; however, in such instances, the coordinator will be a tenured teaching staff member from the faculty with the title of doctor.

In order to facilitate the graduation examination commencing in 2023, the following timetable has been established:

  • The department directors establish the upper limit on the quantity of papers that a staff member is permitted to coordinate. Deadline: 30th of October (for 2nd year bachelor’s and 1st year master’s level).
    • The maximum amount is determined by each department in proportion to the number of educational staff to students.
    • A maximum of 1/3 of the students from the Mathematics-Computer Science specializations (Romanian and English) can choose a coordinator from the Department of Computer Science.
  • Students select a scientific coordinator based on common agreement. Recommended deadline: November 15 (for 3rd year bachelor’s and 2nd year master’s level)
    • Real-time visibility of available coordinator positions within the Department of Computer Science is provided through the application designed for the management of bachelor’s and master’s theses: https://www.cs.ubbcluj.ro/apps/lucrari.
    • The names of students who are accepted for coordination are introduced on the platform by the coordinator. This enables other students to obtain real-time information regarding the availability of free places.
  • Students who have not chosen a coordinator are automatically assigned to the remaining free places, considering the most uniform distribution of the number of theses among teaching staff. Deadline: March 1  (for 3rd year bachelor’s and 2nd year master’s level)
  • Students who carry out their bachelor’s/master’s thesis in collaboration with external specialists submit to the department’s secretariat the collaboration agreement (according to the annex to the Regulation on the organization and conduct of the examination for the completion of bachelor’s and master’s studies). Deadline: March 1 (for 3rd year bachelor’s and 2nd year master’s level)
  • At the following URL, students upload to the platform: https://www.cs.ubbcluj.ro/apps/lucrari:
    • the final version of the paper in PDF format, together with the English abstract integrated immediately after the title page;
    • ZIP archive containing the application (if applicable) and attachments;

    Deadline: displayed on the faculty website at the beginning of the semester. II (3rd year bachelor’s and 2nd year master’s level)

  • In the event of force majeure (the coordinator’s unavailability), the departments’ responsible vice dean will propose a new coordinator after consulting with the potential staff members. The modifications will be implemented by the newly appointed coordinator in the application designed for the management of bachelor’s and master’s theses.
