| Aims |
Presentation of the origin and development of the main concepts in mathematical analysis. |
| Content |
In the framework of this course the introduction and development during the hystory of the following concepts are presented: real number, convergent sequence, convergent sery, uniform convergence, continuity, uniform continuity, derivability, integrability, functions with bounded variation, the lenght of a curve, the area of surfaces, the volume of bodies, Fourier series. We analyse practical problems comming from geometry and physics which lead to the introduction of these notions. |
