Technical procedure regarding the registration of candidates (2024 master’s admission)

The registration of candidates is done exclusively online in the admission platform: https://admitere.ubbcluj.ro/

Recommendations

  • Graduates from the 2024 class of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of UBB are advised NOT to pick up the original documents at the Faculty’s secretariat. Instead of these documents, they will upload a signed statement which declares that the original document is at the secretariat. For mandatory documents, registration cannot be completed without uploading a document at the respective points.
  • We recommend that you submit your baccalaureate diploma, transcript of records, bachelor’s degree diploma and diploma supplement or a bachelor’s degree transcript for graduates of the class of 2024 in original between July 22-25, 2024, between 9:00 and 14:00 at the Commission of master’s admission in the Central Building of the University, str. M. Kogălniceanu no. 1, floor 2, room 230 (deans’ office). Having these documents submitted in original to the file, you will be able to participate in all the confirmation stages only from the admission platform.

General remarks

  • Candidates are responsible for uploading to the platform/correctly submitting all the documents provided for in the Babeș-Bolyai University Admission Regulations, for the 2024-2025 academic year, according to MO no. 3102 of 08.02.2022, with subsequent amendments and additions, approved by the Babeș-Bolyai University Senate Decision no. 40 of 18.03.2024, signed (where applicable) and scanned. Candidates assume responsibility for the authenticity and correspondence between the digital/scanned documents and the originals to be submitted to the candidate’s file, by means of a signed written declaration.
  • Please pay special attention to uploading the documents provided in the list of required documents, as well as the documents specific to each specialization. Prepare the documents before starting the registration process on the platform.
  • A candidate can apply for any of the specializations proposed in the three fields managed by the faculty, apart from the specialization Data Science in Industry and Society, both in the tuition-free regime (if he/she meets the conditions to follow a specialization in this form of financing) and in the tuition-paying regime, but can be enrolled in no more than two study programs at the same time and can benefit from funding from the state budget for a single program/specialization.
  • For the specialization Data science in industry and society, a separate file will be submitted, with the option of tuition-free and/or tuition-paying regime.
  • If a candidate wants to follow two specializations at the same time, or in addition to the Data Science in Industry and Society specialization, he also wants to have other options, he/she will submit two registration files.

Important

  • Documents must be scanned in their entirety (double-sided when necessary) and the information must be legible. Only a single PDF file is uploaded for each individual document.
  • In case of an incomplete file, you will be notified by e-mail on the address given when creating the user on the platform, and in the admission platform you will be able to see which documents are missing from your file! Check your email  (also the Spam folder)!
  • Any payment is made exclusively online in the admission platform.

Scanned documents required for registration

  1. Application form (including the list of options) – completed online in the admissions platform, signed on each page;
  2. A portfolio containing a Curriculum Vitae in Europass PDF format (maximum 2 pages) and a Professional and Scientific Career Development Plan (according to the first specialization in the list of options) on Mathematics or Computer Science (maximum 2 pages). The portfolio must be completed in the language of the first specialization in the list of options, signed and uploaded in PDF format;
  3. Declaration on the master’s degree studies carried out in the Romanian state university system (completed and signed);
  4. A Baccalaureate diploma or its equivalent scanned on both sides and combined into a single PDF document;
  5. Transcript of records (for Baccalaureate diplomas accompanied by a transcript of records), scanned on both sides in a single PDF document;
  6. Bachelor’s degree, scanned on both sides (if applicable), in a single PDF document; for graduates from the class of July 2024, the bachelor’s degree transcript is also accepted (the transcript must show the overall average of the years of study and the average of the bachelor’s degree exam);
  7. Supplement to the bachelor’s degree/undergraduate transcript, scanned on both sides, all pages, in a single PDF document (for graduates from the class of July 2024 it is not mandatory to submit this, if the bachelor’s degree transcript shows the overall average of the years of study, i.e. the average of the bachelor’s exam);
  8. Certificate of Attestation of Professional Competences obtained in a postgraduate program in Computer Science organized by our faculty, if applicable;
  9. The supplement to the certificate of attestation of professional competencies, scanned on both sides, all pages, in a single PDF document, if applicable;
  10. Certificate of language proficiency, agreed by the BBU, scanned in PDF format;
  11. Birth certificate scanned in PDF format;
  12. Identity card scanned in PDF format;
  13. If applicable, a scanned marriage certificate in PDF format;
  14. A medical certificate issued by the family doctor, not older than 3 months, scanned in PDF format;
  15. The certificate shows the fulfilment of the conditions for exemption from the registration fee (employees and children of the employees of Babeş-Bolyai University, of the Central University Library, of the Botanical Garden, and the restaurants and cafeterias of the University; children of teaching and auxiliary teaching staff in active service or retired from the university and pre-university educational institutions; candidates orphaned by both parents and candidates from placement centers); and proof of exemption from the processing fee (in the case of candidates orphaned by both parents and candidates from placement centers). The attestation must be dated on or before the registration period for the admission competition. The submission of the certificate and fee waiver after the admission competition registration has been completed is not accepted.
  16. For candidates from the European Union, Ukraine or from countries belonging to the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation (including Romanian citizens, with Romanian identity cards but who have completed their studies in another country), proof of equivalence of studies is required. For equivalence, you will have to contact the BBU International Cooperation Centre (https://cci.ubbcluj.ro/degree_students/eu_students.php). Also, for the equivalence of grades obtained abroad, we kindly ask the candidates applying to the master’s programs of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, to please contact the BBU General Secretariat (Mrs. KOZMA KIS Elisabeta Edita, e-mail: elisabeta.kozma@ubbcluj.ro) too.

Fees

In accordance with the Admission Regulations of Babeș-Bolyai University, in order to be able to participate in the admission competition, the following fees are charged:

  • The processing fee in the amount of 50 RON is charged for organizational and communication aspects. This fee is not subject to exemptions and is not refundable. The only exceptions are candidates who fall into one of the following situations: they are orphans of both parents, they come from foster homes (candidates in question are exempt from both the processing fee and the registration fee);
  • Registration fee in the amount of 200 RON. Employees and children of employees of the Babeș-Bolyai University, the Central University Library, the Botanical Gardens and the restaurants and cafeterias of the University, as well as children of active or retired teaching and auxiliary teaching staff, are exempt from paying the registration fee.

Fees are paid exclusively online through the Admission Platform. In case of withdrawal from the admission competition, the processing fee and the registration fee are not returned.

Registration of candidates

  • Candidate registration is done online on the https://admitere.ubbcluj.ro Candidates are responsible for correctly uploading/submitting all the documents stipulated in the Admission Regulations, signed (where applicable) and scanned. Before starting the registration, prepare all the necessary documents in PDF format.

  • Specializations will be chosen in order of preference
  • The form of tuition-paying financing is a separate option for each specialization.
  • After completing the registration, the options, respectively their order, cannot be changed.

Step 3. Upload the documents

  • Application form (Appendix 1 – personal data, Application – list of options) generated by the online registration application, listed, signed on each page and scanned;
  • Baccalaureate diploma and transcript of records (for diplomas accompanied by transcript);
  • Bachelor’s degree and degree supplement/degree transcript or bachelor’s degree certificate for the class of July 2024;
  • The certificate of attestation of professional competencies obtained at a postgraduate program in Computer Science organized by our faculty and the supplement to the certificate of attestation of professional competencies, if applicable;
  • For all master’s level programs, it is mandatory to upload a valid language proficiency certificate approved by BBU upon enrollment ;
  • Birth certificate;
  • ID card;
  • Marriage certificate, if applicable;
  • Medical certificate issued by the family doctor;
  • Declaration showing whether the candidate was enrolled in another master’s degree at the Babeș-Bolyai University or at another higher education institution, or if he/she is still attending another master’s program (budgeted or fee-based). The form can be downloaded from here .
  • Curriculum Vitae in Europass PDF format
  • Professional and scientific career development plan (according to the first specialization in the list of options) on Mathematics, respectively Computer Science, in the language of the first option, in PDF format;
  • Documents showing the processing and/or registration fee exemption for candidates who request this in accordance with the admission regulations;
  • Equivalence certificates of studies carried out abroad, if applicable.
