Access to resources, accounts and servers offered by the university and faculty

Dear students,

The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Babeș-Bolyai University offer a variety of platforms and related accounts to use in your study process:

Resources offered by the university

Thus, in addition to the Academic Info platform available at https://academicinfo.ubbcluj.ro/, Babeș-Bolyai University offers you access to Microsoft Teams and Office 365. Details on how to connect to these platforms are provided in Academic Info and the UBB’s Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DTIC): https://dtic.ubbcluj.ro/tutorial/conectare-office365-studenti/. The UBB DTIC exclusively provides support for Microsoft Teams accounts and @stud.ubbcluj.ro form accounts; if you encounter any issues with accessing them, please reach out to this department at help.office365@ubbcluj.ro.

Resources offered by the faculty

In parallel with the above-mentioned platforms, the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science provides access to several specific resources and servers necessary for the teaching process of various subjects in the curriculum, the most important of which are the @scs.ubbcluj.ro mailboxes accessible at https://www.scs.ubbcluj.ro/webmail/, the Linux server www.scs.ubbcluj.ro, the Moodle server https://moodle.cs.ubbcluj.ro, and the Windows computer networks in the faculty laboratories. Also, based on e-mail addresses of the form @scs.ubbcluj.ro, you can have access through registration to various software licenses offered free of charge only to students of our faculty (examples are Microsoft licenses offered through Microsoft Azure or software licenses offered by JetBrains).

To access these resources offered by the faculty, the initial login credentials to the mailboxes offered by the faculty (those of the form @scs.ubbcluj.ro) and to the Linux server www.scs.ubbcluj.ro can be found at: https://www.scs.ubbcluj.ro/scspasswd. For the initialization and activation of the mailbox, first authentication must be performed at https://www.scs.ubbcluj.ro/webmail/.

For support and problems connecting to these mailboxes, please contact the faculty system engineers through a ticket created in the platform: https://ticket.cs.ubbcluj.ro/. Important: Please do not contact the faculty system engineers for problems related to MS Teams or @stud.ubbcluj.ro form accounts; support for these is provided by DTIC UBB.

Please check these boxes frequently, through which you can be notified about events and presentations organized in the faculty, receive offers of internships, scholarships offered by companies, announcements from faculty and deans, etc.

By accessing resources/accounts/mailboxes you agree to comply with the following regulation:

  1. A username and password are required to access resources such as servers, accounts, and services. The user is solely accountable for all activities taken using his or her account/credentials. Access credentials (passwords) will not be shared with third parties.
  2. Reactivating the account (for example, if you forget your password, etc.) is done by creating a ticket on the platform https://ticket.cs.ubbcluj.ro/, or by contacting DTIC (UBB’s Director of Information Technology and Communications) for university resources (such as MS Teams accounts of the form @stud.ubbcluj.ro). The password reset for accounts issued by the faculty (not the university) can also be done in room 305, FSEGA campus, according to the posted timetable, in the presence of the student, using the current student card and bulletin / passport.
  3. Violation of system protection systems (computers, servers, routers, other active network components) in the faculty, university or Internet network is strictly prohibited. The simple presence in your account/directories of programs that could perform such an activity is considered a fault and is penalized according to this regulation and the law.
  4. Faculty computers and network will be used for academic purposes only. Their use for commercial, political or entertainment purposes is strictly prohibited. Due to traffic, bandwidth and copyright reasons, the use of peer-to-peer programs that allow the download of files with multimedia content from the Internet (file sharing, torrents, etc.) is prohibited. Decent language will be used in electronic communications.
  5. Any issues with the systems, servers, and services shall be reported to the administrators via a ticket generated on the platform https://ticket.cs.ubbcluj.ro/.
  6. Failure to comply with this regulation may result in the following sanctions: banning access to accounts and the network, deregistration, police or judicial proceedings.
