Results obtained by the faculty’s teams at the Algorithmic competitions in the academic year 2023-2024
On October 29, the Romanian Collegiate Programming Contest took place, the national phase of the most important contest of this kind. Two of our teams managed to rank among the top ten teams in the country:
- UBB_Echipa_Misterelor (Andrei Cotor, Alex-Nicolae Pop, and George Râpeanu): 4th place
- UBB_OSS (Alexandru Lorintz, Andrei Cătălin Moca, and Liviu Silion): 9th place
On November 25, approximately 50 teams from the most important universities in the country participated in the Ștefan Mărușter Computer Science Competition organized by the Universitatea de Vest of Timișoara, and the UBB_6 team (Alexandru Marian Mărcuș, Marian Dumitriu, and Péter Ferencz) won first place in the “juniors” division, intended exclusively for 1st year students.
Also on November 25 in Târgu Mureș, teams from high schools and universities from Romania and Hungary participated in the ECN Sapientia competition. The UBB_OSS team (Alexandru Lorintz, Andrei Cătălin Moca, and Liviu Silion) took 6th place (2nd place among university teams in the country), and the UBB7 team (Anna Bereczki, Ottó Lengyel, and Boglárka Nagy) took 7th place (3rd place among university teams in the country).
At the South-East European phase on December 9, in the company of the strongest teams from Bulgaria, Cyprus, North Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, and Turkey, the UBB_Echipa_Misterelor team (Andrei Cotor, Alex-Nicolae Pop, and George Râpeanu) obtained 10th place among the almost 130 participating teams.
